Anniversary Goodies & a Craptastic Morning!

It's Our 1st Anniversary Party!Yesterday was my anniversary…..but first…

This morning I ran with my normal running buddy, Anne.  She lives about 2 miles away, so it is really easy and convenience for us to meet in the middle of the neighborhood and run together.  BUT, we haven’t been doing that much lately because her husband has been traveling so much, and she has to get the girls up and off to school.  This morning she was sweet enough to drive over to my house.  We ran 5 miles together, then I took the dog for another 2 miles.

7 beautiful miles to add to my 2013 total.  It was a good, albeit leisurely run.  The humidity was something stupid like 130% (I don’t really know that, but it was very high)…and it was 70 degrees…and misting, so we just relaxed in to it!

Oh, ya, and I wore one of my anniversary gifts: a pair of white pro compression marathon socks!   Thanks to Kristin over at Stuft Mama, I snagged a discount code, sent it to my husband, and requested a pair for our anniversary.  I heard they are not only great for running, but GREAT for preventing pregnancy swelling as you get into that 9th month!

But Hubby took it a step further….he bought me 2 pairs!  White and Pink.  I’ll write a little review sometime soon!

Here I am trying on one of each sock.  Sexy lady!

My run this morning was great, and I did enjoy wearing the socks!

Soooo, yesterday was our 1 year anniversary.  Here is our cake topper.  This is not from our real cake.  Our baker made us a new one.  I am not a huge sweets eater, so I don’t generally get overly excited by something like cake.  However, I was sooooo pumped to cut into a slice of Italian Cream heaven.  Well guess what…..it wasn’t Italian Cream!  It was vanilla with some raspberry preserve filling.  Don’t get me wrong, it was fine, but not what I expected, so I was a little disappointed.  Since it was free, I couldn’t hardly call and complain that the guy didn’t get it right, could i?!  Oh well.  Whoever comes to my house for dinner this week will be treated to come cake!  You’re welcome friends and family!!!!  =)

Since I am not big on going out to eat, and especially not fond of wasting a huge splurge fancy-dancy dinner on a boring old Monday night, I decided I would cook Ryan a special meal.  I had everything….except the main ingredient.  So instead of the extra special meal, I made him one of his favorite meals: Quesadillas!  We had leftover Chicken Fajita meat, so that was perfect and easy.  If you like Quesadillas, just know, the Velveeta Queso Blanco is one of the best melting cheeses for these heavenly triangles of love.  I also added mushrooms to mine (and lots of them), as well as jalepenos.   I use corn tortillas generally, because they are healthier than flour, and crisp up nicely, but lets be real, they don’t taste as good as flour tortillas.  Oh well.  Last nights ‘Dillas turned out SUPER AMAZING, seriously, like restaurant quality.  I made a red sauce to dip them in too, just to add another layer of delicious flavor (with minimal calories).  We had some corn, shelled edamame and tomato mixture on the side.  HEAVEN.  The hubs loved it.

Then we opened presents, and boy was I excited.  Not only did I get those two pairs of awesome compression socks, I got 3 books:

If you don’t know about Pre, you gotta google him at the least.  HELLO, Jared Leto played him in a movie.  That should be enough to interest you!

I am sure most of you have heard of this, since its a more recent book.  I am sure this will, once again, get my mind on the big daddy Ironman, which I swore I would never do.  But anyhow, I am  excited to finally read this since so many of my tri buddies have read it!

Then this beauty, about a middle aged guy who was overweight and unhealthy.  He changed his life through running, and is an inspiration to many.  I love transformation stories.  Like love love love LOVE them!

So, that is my anniversary loot!  Well, okay, along with a bathroom transformation, new hardwoods, and a new couch.  I am one lucky girl.  The hubs is one smart guy.  It works.  I’ll be sure to write a book review on each of the books as I read them.  I am hoping they will last me a bit, as I was out of new books for 5 weeks, and DYING for something to read.  But, more likely than not, I’ll finish them all within a month!

Oh ya, I forgot about my craptastic morning!  That is what happens when you start blogging about cool gifts, you just get so happy and so excited, you forget about the crappy things in life.  So, on my way to work, I was passing a work truck, and some package of stuff flew off their truck and hit my car!  I tried to honk and get them to pull over, but they never did.  A-holes!  I got the license number though, and thankfully, damage was minimal, but jeeze, this pregnant, high-strung lady doesn’t need any extra stress.  I’m already edgy. Ha!  I am filing a police report though, just for the sake of the matter.  I mean seriously, if I had been 5 more feet back, the stuff could have crashed through my window!  Scary thought.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Has anyone read of any of the above?

Have a personal favorite running/endurance/inspirational book??
